Sivan Stickers

Members of D'VEYKUS – The Jewish Sticker Club received the following stickers for the month of Sivan.

First Fruits – This sticker commemorates the ritual of "Bikkurim," or "First Fruits," associated with the holiday of Shavuot. In this ritual, farmers contribute their first fruits to the priests in Jerusalem and recite a couple of verses from the Torah. One of these verses: "Arami Oved Avi," "My father was a wandering Aramean," may sound familiar from the liturgy of the Passover seder. The verses there recount the origins of the Jewish people in Canaan and their growth into a nation in Egypt.

The Adorned Ox – Before the first fruits reach the Holy Temple in Jerusalem the farmers process through the streets of the city. Mishnah Bikkurim 3:3 details the presence of an Ox adorned with gold and wearing an olive crown walking before them as they ascend.

Omer Hatnufa – The "Omer" is a bundle of grain farmers ritually offered to the priests during the pilgrimage of Shavuot.

#1 Best Cheesecake Award – It is traditional to eat dairy desserts on Shavuot, including cheesecake. I was inspired to create this sticker reflecting on the delicious cheesecakes my mother would bake for Shavuot. One year she entered the Shavuot cheesecake competition at our shul and her chocolate chip cheesecake  won the Kids Choice Award!
